4 Army jawans killed in vehicle battery blast in Jalandhar

JALANDHAR: Four soldiers were killed when the battery of an Army vehicle exploded while being charged on Tuesday evening. The accident took place

According to defence PRO Naresh Wig, the mishap took place when the battery exploded and the vehicle caught fire. Another vehicle went up in flames even as the authorities pressed men and machine into service to control the raging blaze.

The victims, who met instant death, have been identified as Lance Naik J Topo, Naik Lalit Kumar, Hawaldar P Brahma and driver JS Rao.

The Army has cordoned off the entire area completely and did not allow even the local police to inspect the site
